LATEST STATS SHOW SUFFOLK IS THE SECOND SAFEST COUNTY
Latest figures published by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show that Suffolk is now ranked second for the lowest levels of recorded crime in England and Wales, which is great news.
Recorded crime covering the 12 months to the end of December 2025 shows a decrease of 3.4% compared to the previous 12 months; nationally, there was a reduction in crime of 1.9% for England and Wales.
The force continues to adopt a proactive, intelligence‑led approach to tackling weapon‑related crime. This includes the use of Clear, Hold, Build to identify and disrupt individuals involved in carrying offensive weapons. Alongside enforcement activity, the Constabulary works closely with partners across education, health and community services to prevent weapon carrying through early intervention, diversion opportunities and targeted education programmes.

PCC WELCOMES NEW TOWN CENTRE TEAMS
Local policing is at the very heart of what communities ask for, so the PCC is pleased to announce two new teams adding an extra layer of visibility in our town centres.
The new Town Centre teams will provide increased patrols in our town centres and help maintain Suffolk’s enviable position as one of the safest counties in which to live, work, travel and invest.
Results so far have been impressive; in Lowestoft and Ipswich, officers seized several e-scooters for being ridden illegally, issuing over 30 tickets to riders. Elsewhere, breaches of Public Space Protection Orders have been enforced – seizing open containers of alcohol. In Haverhill and Sudbury, they have focused on anti-social behaviour and in Bury St Edmunds, following several checks of business premises with partner agencies including Trading Standards and HMRC, a large quantity of illegal tobacco was seized.

PCC JOINS RENEWED FIGHT AGAINST FRAUD
Suffolk’s fight against fraud has taken a major step forward this week with the launch of a new partnership which sees Suffolk Constabulary and Suffolk Trading Standards joining forces with businesses and community interest groups to launch Suffolk Against Fraud.
As well as bringing together investigative resource, expertise and intelligence to tackle and combat fraud, Suffolk Against Fraud will see joined up campaigns and media messaging and improved quality of victim support.
Fraud poses a significant threat to the people, prosperity, and security of the residents of Suffolk. It is by far the most common crime and now accounts for over 40% of all offences in the County.,
Prevention is key and the aim of Suffolk Against Fraud is to reduce the likelihood of Suffolk residents and businesses falling victim to fraud, but if you have been defrauded it is most important that you report the incident.
Anyone who believes they may have been targeted is encouraged to report it to Report Fraud at www.reportfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040. If money has already been transferred, they should contact their bank immediately.
