A note from your clerk – West Suffolk Grass Cutting Schedule

Here is the latest update from West Suffolk on their Grass Cutting schedule...

Published: 5 May 2026

A tractor is mowing a field of tall grass.

As agreed by Council, we will continue the controlled use of a chemical weed treatment in a targeted way to help limit unwanted growth in hard landscaped areas and deterioration to structures (such as around signs and benches). We are dedicated to maintaining public spaces therefore will be ensuring that all landscape maintenance treatments are applied carefully to minimise any impact on the surrounding ecosystem and wildlife.

To increase biodiversity and encourage a wider range of flora and fauna, we have been updating our digital plans to indicate where we have identified colonies of orchids, spring bulbs, and other plants of interest. We are keen to assist biodiversity projects where possible, with local groups, town and parish councils.

We have continued to invest in the tools and equipment our teams use to maintain our grass area to ensure that they are efficient and effective.

In all cases, the planned and scheduled mowing for the forthcoming week is dependent on a range of issues including the prevailing weather conditions, and the free and unhindered access to those areas requiring maintenance.
