A Note from Your Clerk – Enquiries about Forest City

Hello, we've had a number of enquiries about Forest City...

Published: 1 May 2026

I have checked with West Suffolk Council with respect to this matter, who have advised that

The Forest City concept that has been in the public press and has not been given any support by the council and is not related to the West Suffolk Local Plan.

The council has held a without prejudice meeting with the Forest City promoters for the purpose of finding out further details of the proposal. Following this meeting we have responded to state that the council has not offered any expression of interest or support for the proposal.

Should the concept progress to a formal proposal the parish council would be formally consulted as part of the statutory process and would respond to such a consultation at the time.  It’s not a matter which the parish council should be discussing or commenting upon at this moment in time, as there is a risk that there could then be a perception that the parish council has pre-determined the matter.

The website published by Forest City 1 provides updates: https://www.forestcity.uk/

I understand that our local MP, Nick Timothy, is concerned about the Forest City concept and you may wish to contact his office direct to raise your concerns with him, and/or sign up to his regular newsletter – https://members.parliament.uk/member/5062/contact.
