History Society visit to Euston Hall

Members of the History Society spent an enjoyable day at Euston Hall , home of the Duke and Duchess of Grafton in August...

Photograph of a large red-brick Georgian-style building with multiple chimneys and white-framed windows, set against an overcast sky. Foreground features a wide, dry grass lawn with visible patchy brown areas, indicating lack of recent rainfall.

Our excellent guide Jackie’s enthusiasm for the history of the family and their marvellous collection of paintings (by Van Dyke, Stubbs, Lely and our ‘own’ Mary Beale) made this a memorable outing in spite of damp weather.

We also visited the garden, church and Water Mill.
