A note from your clerk – An appeal for Befrienders

Hello, I've received this info from the Befriending Network... Loneliness affects many people in our communities, but a simple act of friendship can change that. Befriending volunteers offer companionship, conversation, and connection to people who may otherwise feel isolated.

Become a Befriending Volunteer – Make a Real Difference

Befriending is about being there — sharing a chat, listening, or spending a little time together in person or over the phone. You don’t need special skills or experience, just kindness, reliability, and a willingness to connect.

By volunteering, you can help someone feel valued and less alone, while also gaining a sense of purpose, new perspectives, and meaningful relationships of your own. Even an hour a week can make a big difference.

If you’re looking for a rewarding way to give back and strengthen your community, becoming a befriending volunteer could be the perfect opportunity.

How to Get Involved

Getting started is easy. Simply contact us to register your interest, and our team will guide you through the next steps, including a short application, training, and ongoing support. We’ll work with you to match you with someone who suits your availability and interests.

Your time. Your kindness. Someone’s brighter day.
